Full-Airframe Sensing Technology for Hypersonic Aerodynamics Measurements

Student : Ana Cristine Meinicke

Sponsor : NASA University Leadership Initiative (ULI)

Summary:

This multi-university research project called FAST (Full-Airframe Sensing Technology) aims to develop new sensing technology by treating the vehicle as a sensor and using its own deformation information to infer the applied loads through models obtained with scientific machine learning methods.

A2SRL at the University of Michigan provides expertise in developing accurate aerothermoelastic models  and simulations of hypersonic vehicles, which will enable the development of the machine learning algorithms that are going to solve this inverse problem.
